Prof. Anne C. Ihata
Professor of English Language and Linguistics at Musashino University, Tokyo
Anne Ihata is a professor of English Language and Linguistics at Musashino University, Tokyo, where she has taught for 37 years. Besides teaching and research, she is joint-coordinator of EFL courses in the Department of Global Communication, designing and implementing the curriculum, and supervising English-speaking instructors. She obtained an MA in French from Edinburgh University, an MA in TESOL from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a PhD in Applied Linguistics from Birmingham University in 2008, for study on EFL reading, which she has specialized in for twenty years now.
Originally from England, she is married to a Japanese national and has lived in Japan since 1978, teaching English in a variety of contexts. Publications include various journal articles, Takaaki Talking (Pentland Press), Reading Compass (with HirokoTajika, Longman/Pearson Education), Linguistics, Literature and Culture: Millennium Realities and Innovative Practices in Asia (Shakila Abdul Manan and Hajar Abdul Rahim (Eds.). Cambridge Scholars Publishing), and contributions to various other books.
