Dr. Declan Patrick

Declan Patrick (Ph.D., MA (Hons), PGDip Drama, BA)
Dr Patrick founded Fighting Fit Productions in 1992 as a platform for his original devised, scripted and choreographed performance work. As an Artistic Director, Dr Patrick has worked for Filipinescas/Benildanze, a large, professional dance company in the Philippines, resident at De La Salle – College of St Benilde.
Teaching has always been a strong focus for Dr Patrick, and he has taught at a number of academic and technical schools in a wide variety of fields. This has included Wellington Performing Arts Centre, Victoria University of Wellington, City Dance, and the University of Auckland (all New Zealand), the University of Chester, the University of Salford and Liverpool Hope University (all in England), as well as stints at the Arts School of Mianyang, the Mianyang Song and Dance Troupe, and Yuexui University (China), and various studios in Manila (Philippines) and Madrid (Spain).
Dr Patrick’s research interests include the performance of culture, the intersection of live and mediated performance, interdisciplinary performance and post dramatic theatre.
He has presented his original research at a number of international conferences around the world. His Ph.D. practice-as-research performance, There’s Danger in the Dance, has toured universities and public venues throughout the UK, along with workshops investigating intercultural performance and practice-as-research
